Research Overview
SS-31 (elamipretide) is a mitochondria-targeted peptide that interacts with cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane. It has been evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for primary mitochondrial myopathy and for renal and cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury. Elamipretide is investigational and is not approved for any indication.
