Research Overview

Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-29) that stimulates pituitary GH release. It was FDA-approved in the 1990s as Geref for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric growth hormone deficiency; the NDA was withdrawn in 2009 for commercial (not safety/effectiveness) reasons per a 2013 FDA Federal Register notice, and no FDA-approved sermorelin product is currently marketed in the US. It has been studied in aging/GH-insufficiency contexts. This entry is a research-reference summary and does not represent a currently marketed approved product.
